RAM Timings

I have two sticks of Crucial 512MB DDR PC3200. I'm not certain what the numbers mean and how they correlate to RAM Timings. I've seen people list their timings (e.g. 1:1; 2.5-3-3-7; 1T; 2.85v.), but I don't know what those numbers mean.

Is this something the BIOS generally figures out on its own? Do I need to set them manually? Are there acceptable ranges?

Always worth checking that the BIOS has been given the correct info from the SPD of the RAM...Was having problems recently with lockups & after an age I realised that the BIOS was reading the RAM SPD which was actually incorrect! So the BIOS had incorrectly set the CAS timings..

Apparently it can be quite common so worth checking that!
