So I was just experimenting with OCing, I don't plan on keeping it OC'd until later when it starts to show its age. Either way I was using intel extreme tuning, and I pushed it too far at the voltage I wanted and it restarted etc. After that I couldn't achieve the same settings, I assume I just need a bit more v. Anyways the point is, I have mushkin 12gb of ram and its timing is 9-9-9-24, well now I suppose due to some automatic change it is 8-8-8-20. I tried just resetting the bios settings but to no avail.

It is still stuck at 8-8-8-20, is this a problem? And there are quite a few more settings in the bios for ram timing, if I change it back to its default specified could that hose anything?

If the computer runs fine at 8-8-8-20 leave it, that's faster then 9-9-9-24.

So have I just accidentally overclocked my ram?

Pretty much yes, lol. Thats how it works when overclocking. You get you CPU running at a certain speed then mess with ram timings to get a little more performance. Its not like running the ram at faster speeds than lets say 1600 running at 1700 etc, but its faster timings.

Thanks for clarifying. So there is no danger of running them like this?
