My mainboard has three DIMM slots. When I first built my PC, I got random IRQL_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL crashing which turned out to be from memory overheating. I fixed it by leaving an empty slot between the two sticks. Since then I've improved airflow in my case and added fans etc; I've also now put copper heatspreaders on both sticks. I'm wondering if I can add another 512 stick in the middle and stay stable. Does anyone have relevant experience or is it just something I'd have to try and see if it's stable? Thanks.

I would also be willing to invest in a Crab Memory Cooler if it would be helpful...I know the extra RAM would really help with BF2.

Would a 1GB stick run hotter than a 512 stick? If not it might be a better investment.

Get the big Zalman 7700Cu CPU cooler. The big 120 mm fan will also blow cold air over the RAM.

I would cut a hole on the side of the case to allow the 120 mm Zalman fan to draw in room temp air for cooling.

If you don't want to tinker, then move the system along with the Zalman 7700Cu to the Antec SLK3000B case.
