RAM speed

I'm on the verge of ordering a new system. I got it down to $380 for parts, and all I need to know is this. Will this processor AMD work well with this RAM ?Corsair on this MOBO Shuttle I don't plan on overclocking, but people reccomended pc3200 for future overclocking possibilities, and for upgrade possibilities. Will running the RAM async. with the processor on an nvidia chipset cause problems

EDIT: link fixed.

run ur ram at 1:1 with the processor. running ur processor at 333mhz and ur ram at 400mhz is worse than 333mhz for both. but i agree about getting the pc3200 and underclocking it for right now.
ur link to corsair doesnt work.
not really my choice of a processor though, but since ur not overclocking i guess ur okay.

I overclock the heck outta my video card, but I have never really been big on overclocking my cpu. I fixed the link, and am deciding on a 2800+ barton for a little more.

about to order, just wanted to make sure that pc3200 is the way to go even if im not overclocking. I don't want to have to make any returns because it turns out that it cripples my performance or something.

Future gen VId cards are really getting the CPU to become a bottleneck, so you should think about getting a socket 939 AThlon 64 system in a month or two if your really serious about gaming performance 🙂

I'm gonna be using this system til all the changes take place, socket 939, DDRII, BTX, PCI-E, and who knows what else. I guess if I get pc3200 I could get a socket 754 A64 later when they become cheaper.

The real question is not whether the AMD cpu will work well with the Corsair ram. It's whether the mobo and ram will play nice together.

Go to a forum specific to your mobo. Often you find a sticky about compatible ram. If not just search "corsair" and if there are reported probs it will pop up.

Definatley run your ram & cpu in synch for an AMD system. Asynch not a prob (no performance hit) on Intel systems.
