ram speed same as fsb?

Is it true that my ram runs the same as my FSB?? My board runs 133 memory, but it's only a 100fsb........am i holding back? also can i get a 1.2 266 and have it run fine on a 200fsb board? or have a 1.4 266 and have it run at 1.2 200 ???

In answer to your first question if its a KT133 chipset board (not a KT133A) then it will run the memory at either 100fsb or 100fsb + PCI mhz = 133fsb (some do some dont...) Also most all 1.2Ghz (either 200 or 266) are unlocked so you can run 12X100=1200mhz as is the same for a 1.4 266fsb being able to run 12X100=1200mhz although most boards with a 12.5 multiplier remapp to 13X100=1300 (not sure of a KT133 chipset but most KT133a`s do...)

I`m to assume your wanting to upgrade your board in the future as is the reason for the 266fsb chip questions...?

Hope this helps... 🙂

thanks, that helps alot! so basicly i just manually set my multiplyer down and it'll work without a hitch(assuming it's unlocked, which you say most are)

yeah, i've got a 100fsb board now, and i want to get a cpu now, and then upgrade my mobo later

If it is locked and you can't change the fsb, then you can still use that prossesor, it will just run slower. Mine was like that for a little while when I first got my computer until I setup the bios properly. No harm
