RAM slots gone bad?

I'm using an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe and have been running 4x512megs of Crucial memory. Recently my computer stopped booting, and after tweaking with the ram, discovered that my first two ram slots are borked. I can put any combination of the 4 sticks into slots 3&4, but if any are put into either slot 1 or 2, the system will not boot.

Can anyone think what would cause this, or if there's a way to fix it? Or am I stuck RMAing the board?

Thanks!

i have the same exact problem with asus a8v i got from ebay.i can't send it back.
it is working on the other two ram slots. it's not my main computer so it doesn't matter
all that much.i plan to try the corrosion cleaner just for fun..

There are times where circuitry for one ram slot goes bad. Have an ECS motherboard on hand with 4 slots, 3 work great, the 4th throws out constant errors in memtest. Just happens
