RAM running @ 1T

I'm really sorry if this has been asked many times or if its a really dumb question (have tried searching for it but couldn't find any matches). The only thing I'm wondering about RAM is if you need specific type of RAM to run @ 1T?

Most of the RAM I've seen only state the timings like 2-2-2-5 but rarely state whether its in 1T or 2T. I'm trying to get 2GB of RAM and from Zebo's thread, apparently low latencies don't matter as much as running RAM @ 1T so I'm just wondering if I can just get Value RAM (GeIL Value 2x1GB @ 3-8-4-4) and run it @ 1T on a socket 939 at stock speeds?

I'm pretty sure that if you fill all 4 RAM slots that any A64 board they will all default to 2T.

Can anyone else confirm this?
 
What if I only use 2 slots? As in using 2x1GB sticks, will I be able to use 1T command rate @ stock speeds for value RAM (i.e. Corsair VS, GeIL Value)?
 
It is the command rate ie when the memory sends data. IIRC 1T sends at the rise and the fall whereas 2T sends it only on the fall. Correct me if im wrong though.

Shouldn't have a problem. Only when all 4 slots or all three slots are full that it presents a problem.

I believe you are right Kevin. I'm not sure what performance gains thats translates into, however (i.e. games, etc). My question is, what do you need 2 gb of ram for? Unless you are doing lots of intensive work in graphic (or other) apps like Photoshop, I'd say 1 gb is sufficient.
 
Thanks Kevin, I hope you're right. Won't be buying the RAM for another couple of months, but am already planning my system. Cheaper to get RAM and the like from Malaysia and am going there during my easter holidays. I want 2 GB cause my 1 GB RAM gets saturated with the latest games and I don't really like that. I don't mind not having the bleeding edge performance, but I absolutely hate having virtual memory being used and HL2, Vampire: Bloodlines does that so I'm guessing its about time to upgrade my RAM.

I don't upgrade my computer often, just change my whole rig every 2-3 years, so I might as well get 2GB since it will probably be the standard in a year or so (IMO).
