ram questions for new system

the system i am building will be for gaming mostly, i have two questions:

1) would i notice a difference with 2 gb versus 1 gb of either some good corsair xms or some type of dual channel ram (this system will be amd 64 3500+ w/ nvidia 6800gt and the msi mobo)

2) the reviews i've seen say this corsair xms ram is really good ram, yet it is not dual channel, would i be better off spending the extra cash for dual channel ram?

thank you in advance

You probably would not notice a difference between 1GB and 2GB.

RAM isn't dual channel or not. Any matched pair of dimms can work in motherboard that supports dual channel. If you're getting more than two dimms, check you mobo manual to make sure it runs dual channel with 4 slots filled.

this

CORSAIR XMS, Xtra-Low Latency 2-2-2-5, 184-Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200, Model TWINX1024-3200XLPRO

or

OCZ EL Platinum Revision 2 Dual Channel Kit 184-Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200

or

Crucial Ballistix 184-Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200

all have great reviews, the crucial seems to have higher voltage and tighter timing, obviously i couldnt go wrong with any of them but does one outdo the other? and if so why

Timings don't really make as big of a differance on an A64, since it has an onboard memory controler. You won't likely get a noticable differance between the expensive ram and the value ram.

Get some of the normal Crucial. It is a much better deal. (I think it still might be CAS 2.5)

Also 1 GB should be fine
