RAM question

Hey guys...Im kinda of a comp noobie. I have a noobie question.
Today I bought 128megs of ram to add to my 64,that gives me 192.
Now when I play games like counterstrike and serious sam I dont see any improvment in perfomance. Now I didnt buy the RAM just to improve my gaming perfomrmance...but I thought I would see some sign that I just put down some cash for the RAM.
How and where can I see the impovment this much RAM is sopposed to give me?

im guessing u have win98 otherwise you've noticed improvement in win2k! hmm.. u should have noticed SOMETHING. =0

Well I was getting about 20 frames in serious sam before I added the RAM.Last time I played I was getting 4FPS!?!.In CounterStrike my frames havent changed.....*shrugs*

i'm not sure about gaming with that celly system but your general windows experience should be noticeably snappier going from 64megs to 192megs

Well, you night need to start thinking about a VERY serious upgrade (ie - mobo, cpu, just about everything).

Yeah,I have my eyes set on a Tbird 1gig and the Iwill KK266. I just picked up the RAM today for the hell of it.

Ram should go over to the KK266, if you got good ram. Ram is a good thing to buy now, since it's cheap. 🙂 I agree, it's time to shelve the Celery setup.

How do I know if its "good ram"?I just bought it without questions.....lol.

Guess the only way to learn is to ask......

I just bought 2 SDRAM 128mb sticks and put them into my p200 socket7 board 🙂
The guy who sold me said it won't work for sure..! but I persuaded him to sell those memories anyway..
I took out my 48mb drams and put those babies..
My mandrake now flies (both on boot time and applications), but the harddrive is holding my system down..
I also tried win98, the difference is there.. but not as much as linux..
But it might be just me .. You know.. pro-linux and all that..

The new 128Mb stick must have been a Cas3 and it could be that the old 64Mb was a Cas2 which kinda slow down you games. Try just having the 128 in the system and adjust your memory timing in the Bios to see if it'll get any better. Memory may all sound the same when you talk about their sizes, but there's a lot more to them to differentiate the good and bad memories.😎
