Hello everyone. I'm thinking about upgrading my gaming machine from the current 3.58ghz PD 805 to a new AM2 Athlon X2. My question is, I have 2gb of the DDR2667 in my intel machine. They're PQI Turba sticks. Would I be able to use 1gb of this ram in the AM2 setup? The standard for AM2 is DDR800, would these DDR2667 sticks work in place of the required speed? Would they just downclock or would the motherboard totally reject them? I wouldn't think performance would take to much a hit from the difference, if I can actually use them in this case?

Um, am I crazy when I say there is no such thing currently as DDR2667?

OHHHH Wow, now I see you meant DDR2 667. Yes you can use it. It will just run at the DDR2 667 speed. Not a big deal.

it will not effect performance signficantly at all. if i were to guess, i would say maybe 2% or so. you will still be able to overclock. if you're trying to set records in overclocking (which i doubt you are), DDR2 667 shouldn't bother you at all

Why upgrade?

Your current OC'd 805 is fine. You will not get a significant increase in speed by going to X2.
