If you have an amd-based system, you can't use DDR2 memory. That won't change until the new amd cpu's come out. DDR2 memory is quite different than DDR. To answer your other question, we need to know a couple of things, what your other system spec's are, and if you are OC'ing.

Is it easier for someone to hold your hand and tell you every little thing you want to know?
Or is it easier to search this forum and actually read threads on the same exact issue you ask about?

Pssh. That would require the forum to have a "search" feature or something. :p

OP, I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything. But please, for questions like "what is DDR2?" and "why would I want to have 2GB of RAM?", it's better to search. If you have SPECIFIC questions (more specific than "I don't know anything about RAM, please tell me everything"), I would be happy to try to answer them for you.

Go to the Crucial web site and use the memory configurator there. If you are running windows you can even use their system scanning tool to tell you about your system and its memory.

the only real thing you need to know about ddr2 vs ddr for now is this: ddr2 is for intel (and intel in a couple months), ddr is for amd. right now there is no real advantage ddr2 has over ddr, but it should in the future
