Which brand of RAM is most likely to have the least issues? I've seen posts where people's computers "lock up" because of the RAM brand, any general recommendations?

I would suggest reading through the information provided for the motherboard you wish to use this memory with. Some motherboards recommend or certify specific brands of memory for their boards.

Go to the official forum for your mobo. See what others are reporting.

Also, like mentioned above the manufacturer will often list supported ram.

Crucial and Corsair are very good brands, seems very few problems with their products. I've used both for many years with nary a problem

I buy Crucial for my clients, although for my own high performance rigs I prefer Corsair. Whichever you buy, go to the manufacturer's website and use their online database to look up you mobo and get the EXACT memory that's guaranteed to work with it. Modern dual channel mobos are very fussy about timing so don't just buy what's on sale at NewEgg.
