i am completely new to overclocking
i was just going to get pc 3200, but it was suggested that i get pc 3500

can i run pc 3500 without overclocking, and just restrict it to 3200 speed?

if i want to run pc 3500 @ pc3500 speeds, do i have to oc my processor too?

how hard is it to overclock?
i am planning on an amd 3200+ with a asus nforce3 board

do i just type in 3500 in the bios, or is it more complicated than that

is there any website that i can read over to learn more?

how important are low timings? website for that too?

by no means do you have to overclock to use PC3500. you simply may not benefit from the increased frequency. furthermore, unless you plan on doing MAJOR overclocking, PC3200 will suit your needs.


i'll give you a brief run through based on minor to moderate overclocking, nothing extreme, because the higher you go, the more complicated it gets.
Overclocking in itself is not difficult. you simply enter the BIOS, and slowly minipulate the clock multiplier and bus speed until you reach you desired overclock, keeping in mind you may need to increase the core voltage to maintain stability. don't go trying to do it off what i say, you need a detailed guide, preferably one tailored to you processor. there are just several things you need to keep in mind when you do OC. first, temperatures. make sure you have a good HSF, thermalright SLK-900A for example. Vcore, PCI/AGP locks...once again, don't do it based on this. read ALL of this...
