ram question

Can anyone tell me whether you have to use Pc2100 rated ram on a MB with a 266Mhz FSB or would something newer like Pc2700 or Pc3200 be compatible as well?

You can use pc2700 or pc3200, but it will run at 266mhz.

Oh I think I get it. Would I be right in guessing that you can't use Pc2100 on a MB with a 333Mhz FSB?

It's possible but your ram will limit everything to 266mhz

PC2100 = 266 FSB
PC2700 = 333 FSB
PC3200 = 400 FSB
Installing slower RAM can be done, but it will be a botteneck. Installing faster RAM can also be done, but won't increase performance any. i would only go with faster RAM if you are planning an upgrade in the future that will allow you to take advantage of it.
