Hi, experts ~

This is my first time OCing my computer:

AMD 4200, 2.2mhz
ASUS A8N32 SLI MOBO
CORSAIR TWINX2048-4000PT 2GB KIT (1GB x 2) 500MHZ MATCHED PAIR 3-4-4-8 184-PIN DDR DIMM W/HEAT SPREADER
Antec Truepower 2.0, 550 watt
EVGA 7800 GT

After reading several novice guide to OC, I decided to OC my comp and push the limit :D. Many problems occured ^_^

First: My Ram problem... Runing at Default

*point above* its a 500 mhz ram so it should run at 200-250 ish easily with NO Overclocking.

But when I use CPUZ to check it says its runing at 130mhz, I tried manually chaning the Memory limit up to 200 or 250 still no changes. Tried upping it to 2.9v .... which increased it up to 140...still no where close to what it should be at.( Bad ram? or?)

Second: OC

Since i dont know whats going on with the ram problem I went ahead and play with the HTT X FREQ
219x11
So far I am able to get it up too 2.4 stable it seems( 1.5 Vcore)

I got it up to 2587 once, but that could only happen when I ONLY have 1 stick of ram in. Wont work with both stick of ram. (PS: unstable at 2597 >:] )

Needless to say im clueless >_>

Whelp~

Small change... dont know whats going on but the Ram is runing at 219 now... which is odd cuz I ran the same setting before and it stayed at 130.

Also, I set Vcore to 1.5 in BIOS , but in CPUZ it shows 1.4.... which one is correct o_O? (cpuz v1.31)

Did you lower your HTT/LDT multiplier prior to increasing the HTT to 219? You need to lower it to 4x before you do, or it's almost guranteed to cause instability. 1.5v is a bit high for 2.4ghz. As for the memory, it sounds like your motherboard is forcing a divider. I have heard the Asus boards have a lot of strange issues, so that is probably one of them.

did you put the sticks in the wrong place so that it was in single channel?

i tried different setting before but 240x9 was about as high as it gets as for HTT

I tried runing dual channel and single channel, but no luck :< not sure why its runign at 219 instead of 130 like before:~

PS:... this may sound stupid... but im having a hard time understanding the HTT x3 or x4 that you guys are talking about. And wheres is it in the bios ~ i dont seem to be able to locate the x3 or x4 choice
