RAM problem on a Mac

My brother just bought 256MB of PNY PC133 RAM but it shows up at 128MB in his G3. I checked the manual and it accepts up to 256MB sticks. His computer only runs RAM at PC100 if that has anything to do with it. We were told the RAM is backwards compatible...

I don't know how many Mac users there are around here, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Get good ram.
That's about the only thing that i understand about macs. They are high maintenance, like pretty girls and are picky about the type of car you have, places you take them to dine and so on.

PNY? I'm not really sure if it's good or not, but crucial is usually a safe bet.

Is the RAM single sided? If so, go back and exchange it for double sided RAM. A G3 will also take PC133 RAM..at least mine did🙂

I've never had a problem with putting any PC133 memory into a PC100 Mac. I think zephyrprime may be right and that you should try different stick.
