It's about time. I was going to start designing a MB that used CF cards as RAM. A 2GB High Speed Staic RAM CF card is less than $120

Do we expect notebook ram to drop as far as desktop ram has? I mean, right now 512MB of 200pin (DDR) is still ~2x the price of the equivalent 184pin piece.l

Ram prices have been dropping like crazy this past month. You can get the same 1 gb pack of corsair that I got a couple of months ago for like 30% less now. It's good news, just sux to see prices drop AFTER you buy.

1GB of PC3200 can already be had for under 90 bucks.. That is freaking cheap. I saw some PC4200 512x2 DDR2 sticks for like $117... too. Its nuts kf prices keep dropping even more were all gonna have a need for mobo's that suport more than 4GB of ram lol.

Crucial has 512MB for my system for about $55. I already have a gig in my rig, and don't need anymore. But, it is tempting to double up for the hell of it...

[CLUE]RAM Prices have been dropping since I have been buying it in 1985[/CLUE]

Here is another clue.

So have been Hard drive prices... CPU prices... (the list goes on).

---------

Thanks for enlightening us with this great revalation. :Q

Did you know that just 15 years ago, hard drives cost more than $5 per MEGAbyte?
I payed $100 for a 20MB hard drive.

RAM cost about uhmmmm..... $200 per MEGAbyte.

Seems that article may not be correct. Crucial has raised their price on 512MB of DDR PC3200 by $10 this week! Should have grabbed two modules a week ago at $52 each. :frown:

No Carbo, that is an incorrect assumption. It's not uncommon to see minor fluctuations in RAM prices. RAM prices can fluctuate from week-to-week or even day-to-day! You may see it go up and down a few dollar in a given period, but there is a overall downward trend for RAM prices to drop.

Is that possible? CF is slower (Even high speed CF) than SDRAM, right?

On top of that...the constant erasing/writing would reduce its life, correct?

Lol and why Static Ram? It isnt like we need to store information ;)

Gosh i hope my sarcasm dectector is broken

and once the 1 gig sticks come out...i'll buy one if its ~100...

I got a great deal on some 2-3-2 hyperx, 1GB (2x 512) at $105 AR. If prices drop more than that, I will be very unhappy.
