RAM power consumption

Done a few searches on this but couldn't see anything fairly recent.

Does anyone know what sort of consumption increase I should see by upgrading from 32gb to 64gb RAM?

I'm trying to make a purchase decision for my new rig.

Any info appreciated.
Thanks

It depends on the particular ram, voltages, and process tech.
Usually a few watts per stick.

Here are some images to get an idea.
I believe samsung and crucial have posted data on their usage (atleast targetting servers).
Samsung's "magic mem" 30nm class stuff brought a big reduction (percentage wise atleast), so they marketed it a bit as a selling point if you look around. "1.65 watt power consumption" per 4GB stick http://www.legitreviews.com/samsung-8gb-30nm-ddr3-1600mhz-memory-kit-review_1959 so if that's a 40% reduction compared to 50nm class stuff ... I guess you could specualte

Thanks for the reply.

I realised it was a pretty vague question but was just looking for something ballpark.
Someone else wrote that it was probably about 3W per DIMM although that was just a forum post with no link to any datasheets.

why would you care about power unless its on a laptop ? I mean yeah picking a psu for it but I think your video card will use more power than a few sticks of memory.

Either way, a few sticks wont add up to 100w light bulb
