ram mix question

i am currently have 1 gb of kingston hyperx pc3200. can I add additional 1gb of PC4000 to my system. Is that possible or it will ruin my whole computer?

it should be fine you'll just have to run all of it at the lowest stable speed and slowest timings of the two (likely the 3200 won't clock as high, and the 4000 will need more relaxed timings). It shouldn't be a serious issue though.

Usually when you run faster chips (DDR500) and slower speeds (DDR400) they can handle halfway decent timings (2-3-2-6-1)

ture - often not *quite* as fast as high performance, lower clock speed ram though - I'm guessing pc3200 hyperX to have pretty good timings.

at any rate, it's no biggie, just something else to play with until it works as well as possible.
