Hi guys,

I searched and read through the ram question threads but none quite answers my specific question.

I currently have:

Asus P4G8X
2x256mb Corsair XMS3200LL Cas2.5 6-2-2

I want to buy either

-Corsair 512MB DDR XMS3200XL Platinum TwinX (2x256MB) CAS2
slightly faster then my current ram as it is the newer version so it would default to the slower spec of my current ram

-GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit CAS2.5
Slightly slower then mine so my ram would run a bit slower to match

I was wondering IF putting the slower GeIL in to my system would make it not as stable as I would have 2 banks of 2x256 and then another 2 backs of 2x512mb?

So I can have 1024mb of ram of (4x256mb) of pratcially matched ram

OR

1536mb of ram (2x256 and 2x512mb) from 2 different manufactures?

I'm not a hardcore OC but both of these would OC enough for me easily. (P4 2.4Ghz @ 2.699GHz)

Your views?

Thanks

Either should work fine. I have a gigabyte motherboard, with 6 ram slots, I had 2x256mb crucial, 2x256mb Centon, and 2x256mb of Kingmax, all working fie together.

Cool thanks Stevty.

Anyone try different size ram say 2x256 and 2x512 in the same dual channel mobo? Any problems?

Thanks.

I have a 512MB stick of Corsair DDR400 and 2 256MB sticks of GEIL DDR400 operating at 400 MHz with timings of 8-3-3-3-2.0 and it runs flawlessly. So should yours.🙂

Thanks dude I'll go get the 2x512mb of GEIL DDR400 value ram then.
