RAM + Memtest question

Yo,

Is the Memtest 68+ as good as the regular Memtest?

And also is it possible for a game to corrupt RAM?

The only reason I bring this up is with my last stick it worked fine then kept making BF2 crash and restart the PC. Do you think Battlefield 2 caused this or anything :S

I'm about to head off to bed and would like to know if Memtest 86+ is as good as the normal memtest, because if so I'm going to run it while I sleep. Also the RAM issue.

What normal memtest are you talking about? Memtest86+ is the most current and best.

I didn't know if there was a difference.

Also how many passes does it need to be accurate. I scanned my first time and got 0 errors after the first pass. Does that mean my RAM and RAM slots are fine

Look at the last update dates on those two sites, you should get the idea.

If this is your first run I'd suggest leaving it running over night.

Okay thanks. Do you think it is possible for a game to corrupt RAM? Or for a bad Mobo slot to corrupt it? In other words it works but then it ends up dying soon after.

No and no, unless the slot is overvolting the RAM

Is it a bios setting?

My ram is PC3200.

Usually under frequency and voltage control, if you never touched it before and don't know what you are doing, leave it alone

even if u were overvolting ur ram u would crash ur computer quite a few times before the ram would get damaged

this is if u have too much voltage to where it is unstable..

Okay I left Memtest 86+ run for 11 hours straight and came up with 0 errors. This was 20 passes. So I assume I can be fairly confident that I have gotten good RAM?

Anything around 11-12 hours with no errors is good.
