ram limits

this question pertains to both me and 98. what if any ram limitations are there for the two os or is it only limited by the bios on the mb you have?

You mean as to how high in MHz the ram is "allowed" by the OS to operate at? I don't beleive the OS even cares. Ram speed is transparent to the OS (meaning the OS really does'nt see it or care, even though it can report it in certain programmes like SiSoft sandra, ect.) the ram speed is really a limmitation of the the individual ram chips on any given "stick" of ram, and it's rated operating speed in MHz.

Then there is of course the bios ram speed limmitations of any particullar motherboard. Some "allow" choices for running the system bus at different speeds in MHz, some do not and stick with the standard 66,100,133MHz for Intel socket 370 CPU's or 100,133MHz for Socket A Athlon/Duron, as examples. Then there are the varieties we all like, that "allow" us many choices, the better ones in 1MHz speed steps.

Whoops, ram in MB's not MHz, eh?
