RAM issues

Ok heres the deal. I have the DFI k8m800-mlvf mobo. Its a socket 754 with 2 dimm slots.
Manual says it supports 2gb.

Anyways i had 2x512 sticks of corsair value select, and it read at a total of 1024(like it should)

I just got a 1gb stick of corsair value. So i removed dimm 1 of 512 and added 1gb stick. and when it boots it says i only have 512mb. So i move 512 to dimm1, 1gb to dimm2 now it reads as 1gb. so i run the 1gb stick by itsself trying it in both dimm slots, and both times it shows up as 1gb. so all the dimms are reading, and both my dimm slots work, but if 1gb is in dimm1 with 512 in dimm2, i have a total of 512, if i flip i have a total of 1gig. cant ever get it to read 1.5gb.

I have the latest chipset drivers, am doing bios now. But any other suggestions?

All settings in bios regarding ram are on default. the only other thing i could think of is the 1gb stick is cas3, and the 512 sticks are cas2.5, but shouldnt it default to the higher one anyways? And the timing is set at 2T(default) not sure what it does so didnt mess with it

Any help would be appreciated.

Generally it's not a good idea to run different sized sticks together, because you will have problems like this.

so is there no fix what so ever?

New Bios didnt help

Update: In CPU-z it shows both of them there under the SPD tab and in the mem tab says 1.5gb. but or during start up when it does the mem check only shows 1gb and if i right click "my comp" it shows 1gb

So which is which and is my comp reading 1.5gb?

Socket 754 is a single memory controller. Since you have more than one stick of ram installed on a memory controller leave the command rate set to 2T. Try rolling back the CAS to cas3 with latency settings at 3-3-3-8 or 4-4-4-9. Also what operating system are you using?
