RAM issues

Ok so i got an old custom built machine and i pulled the ram from it. 3 sticks from like a 4xx mhz celeron. pretty crappy machine. Now i have 3 sticks of ram.

this is the only thing i got from the stickers

2 sticks says on the sticker

16x64- 08Pc100
Kbyte 08 68705

On the bottom of the stick it 1 says PQI and the other one doesn't looks idenitcal. they are 1 sided chips 8 chips on the bank

the other chip says

HYM7V64200
TFG-10 ac

Hyundai 9742 korea

1 sided chip, 8 chips on that bank as well

Some have a clue on how much MB they are? Because my HP can only take pc100 128mb max. I tried to put them in the system and no go. system kept beeping so i just turned it off.

EDIT- would pictures help ? I can get some pictures of it.

cpu is dead. i looks like a standard DIMM. i assume because it has 2 cuts in the side that goes into the board. like a normal SDram. They fit in the SDRAM slot of my pc100. i mean the sticker itself on 2 says PC100. But i found 1 think odd. They aren't as tall as my ram stick that was in the comp already. about 3/4 the height of it.

By pins what do you mean. the golden little lines that look to be about 35 or so?

thanks. how do you find out? this info can be helpful to me in the near future as well.

I get this weird issue. When i put in my 16x64 on the HP. it says its rated at a diffrent speed besides 100 but the system only take pc100 and the sticker says pc100 so what the..

Googled the info you posted. I believe the 16 meg stick is proably 66mhz.

the 16meg is 66mhz so i'll just trash that one. or throw it up in the freebie section.

but why would those 16x64 not really work. maybe one is clocked at 133 or the whole low density high density stuff.

ok so i tried to put in 1 of the sticks 16x64.

Well orginally in bank 1 of the dimm is where i have my 128mb that came with the system. so in bank 2 i put in 1 of the ram's turned it on went into BIOS it shows up as nothing in bank 2 and 64mb in bank 1. I tired it with the other stick and same results. I removed the stick and left it in stock form with the 128mb stick and it showed 128mb.

What can be wrong here. i mean its misreading the amount of memory and not detecting the memory as well. I'm not even going to try that 66mhz chip.

I'd guess the newer memory you have is high density and won't play nice w/ older chipsets and OEM bios's are not to friendly to memory that isn't in spec.

so my best bet is to go find some low density ram to suit this comp's needs. I'm not too great with flashing BIOS so i wont try that.
