Am building for first time, & trying to install Gskills Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL on Asrock H77M mobo. Have unlocked retaining clips, aligned slots, & applied equal pressure on ram stick, but unable to seat ram. What is typical force needed to seat ram? This mobo & RAM is compatiable, right?

Shouldn't need t press them that hard but they do kind of snap down the retaining clips with click into place. Make sure the notch is lined up properly and do one side at a time.

Like MustISO said, make sure notch is correctly positioned above the matching notch in the socket. It will only go in one way (unless you break the DIMM in two!).

New DIMMs in new sockets can require a decent amount of force. It's not going to just drop into place or anything like that.
