RAM -- how much difference does timing make?

Just curious, 'cos the really *good* ram is almost 2x as much as the value ram.... wondering if the performance gain is impressive.

Also, on a side note, my wife's laptop has 768MB ram and my machine has 1gb of ram, hers has a standard 5400 rpm laptop hdd, mine has a 7200 rpm drive. When her system comes out of hibernate it takes less than 1/2 the time as mine to come out of hibernate. is this because of better memory performance (she has 533 DDR2 and i have 400 DDR)? my hiberfil.sys is not fragmented and it's around the begining of the drive so it shoujld be giving good perf.

Look at these benchies for the difference between cas latencies... IMHO, you should buy decent RAM, but not the overexpensive ones, just to have those extreme low timings... They don't pay off like they make you pay... 😉

Don't have an idea about the Hibernate question though...
