I would also suggest you try Intels LinPack as it will quickly find fault in your system.
Yeah I ended up dropping it back to normal volts for the VDimm. I'm now thinking it was just a coincidence that it seemed stable after increasing it. btw hardware monitor shows it at 1.95-2.00v at normal in the bios. There is no option to set it, it's just "normal" or overvolt in +.1 increments.
I ran memtest overnight without error with the e8500 @ 3GHz, using a lower multiplier, while still having the ram at stock settings. I then ran it at 3.8GHz while maintaining the same ram settings, and memtest failed in the 2nd pass..
So my CPU OC is making the ram unstable even though it's running at it's stock settings?
I dunno.. Now I'm doing 1 stick at a time with the CPU OC'd and will see what happens.
I downloaded LinPack and will give that a try as soon as I figure out this ram issue.
