RAM holding me back?

I'm with the others who are looking at your voltages. I also have the same memory and have tested it to DDR 900 @ 5-5-5-15-2T w/1.85VDimm. I'm currently running @ DDR 888.

I would also suggest you try Intels LinPack as it will quickly find fault in your system.

Yeah I ended up dropping it back to normal volts for the VDimm. I'm now thinking it was just a coincidence that it seemed stable after increasing it. btw hardware monitor shows it at 1.95-2.00v at normal in the bios. There is no option to set it, it's just "normal" or overvolt in +.1 increments.

I ran memtest overnight without error with the e8500 @ 3GHz, using a lower multiplier, while still having the ram at stock settings. I then ran it at 3.8GHz while maintaining the same ram settings, and memtest failed in the 2nd pass..

So my CPU OC is making the ram unstable even though it's running at it's stock settings?

I dunno.. Now I'm doing 1 stick at a time with the CPU OC'd and will see what happens.

I downloaded LinPack and will give that a try as soon as I figure out this ram issue.

Well I'm confused.

Ran 6 passes of memtest on both sticks individually, no errors. Ran it again with both sticks in, no errors.. When previously I had errors on the 2nd pass.

Tried LinPack and results of it indicate it's stable so far (wow this app actually slows down my pc, just opening a browser is slow)

Running size of 21000 for "Maximum memory requested that can be used = 3528424096", which brings my free ram down to about 152MB when it's running, and in the past 30mins all Residuals have matched.
