do you overclock? if not i don't see any reason to get anything more than pc3200 ram.

what's your make & model of motherboard?

1. If you're not overclocking, just go with the 533. A 'factory' motherboard doesn't have many oc'ing options anyways.
2. Make sure you get the right type of DIMM for that motherboard. If you're gonna get 4x1GB, they might have to be 'single-sided'. Also, 2GB DIMMs might not be supported. I checked the link you posted, and it didn't give that info, so you'll have to maybe email gateway.

I know you have to have a pair to act in dual mode.

i think as long as the sticks are the same (speed, type etc.), you're fine. interesting thing, i have an nforce 2 board that runs dual-channel with a 512MB stick in one channel and 2x256MB in another channel!

I just got the extra 2 gig to push my system up to 4 gig. I'm having a hard time getting windows XP (32bit) to recognize the extra memory. It still shows only 2 gig! however, when the POST comes by on boot it shows the full 4 gig. Also, when I run CPUZ it shows the full 4 gig as well.

I've looked into microsoft.com and found this /PAE stuff, but that didn't seem to make a difference. I read somewhere that you have to enable "memory hole" option in BIOS, so I tried that too. No dice. Any ideas?

System:
Asus A8N-VM CSM
AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+
ATI X1800XT
4 gig Corsair 3200cpt
2x Maxtor 250gb 16Meg cache in RAID 0
