Ram for a macbook

im looking to upgrade my ram when i get my macbook. what kind do i need? im unfamilair with ram, and i don't know if its different since its apple.

Any SO-DIMM DDR2 667mhz ram will do. Corsair works for me but any brand will be fine

How old is your Macbook, I believe the new ones use higher clockspeed ram.

They still use 667mhz ram

The new ones have 800MHz FSBs, but the chipset still only utilizes 667MHz.

It looks like it will work, and has good reviews. The newer Intel Macs are much more accepting of RAM than the older PPC Macs.

If you are just now ordering the MacBook, that RAM will work just fine. The older Core 2 Duos had a limitation of only accepting 3.3GB of RAM.

nice...highly recommend getting 2x1GB of ram. i dont know if it comes with a 1GB single stick or 2x512MB sticks.

i bought my ocz 2x2GB ddr2-800 for $100 on newegg...and leopard absolutely flies (and so does xp - even though it sees around 3GB)!

They both have (unless I am totally wrong) lifetime warranties and should work just fine. So, get whichever one you like. I have Corsair in mine, and is the brand that I usually will go to unless another is having a ridiculous sale.

great price, i was looking for another place other than newegg all the time.

too bad im still waiting for my macbook to ship and dont know if im gonna need the ram yet since someone pointed out that sometimes refurbished macs come with more memory than they say.

For a new (Santa Rosa) MacBook, I would suggest 2.5 GB RAM or 4GB RAM. 2GB SO-DIMMs are incredibly cheap right now.

I believe benchies show dual-channel operation (i.e. 2x1GB) isn't that important.

I didn't see any performance reduction going from 2x1 to 2+0.5.
