My problem is that will I see a difference going from 1 GB PC2100 to 512 MB PC3200? I do everthing on the computer a little bit of photoshop, some rendering stuff, and then gaming and office type things.

Please give us the full stats on your computer. CPU, motherboard, vid card,etc.,etc.
But to answer your question, a larger size say from 128mb to 512mb will help speed up your computer. If you have too little RAM the OS has to save info to virtual memory on you HD. This slows the machine down. That should get you started.

If your PC is only capable of running at DDR266(PC2100) speeds, Then putting a higher speed rated RAM will help zero. And going from 1GB down to 512MB will be going in a backward direction.

Sorry the 266 is running on a A7n266-C board and the 3200 would be on a P4C800-E. So both would be running at their designed frequency.

A7N266-C
1800+
1 GB PC2100
9800 AIW Pro

P4C800-E
2.6C
512 PC3200
9800 AIW

XP Pro or Server 2003.

id say unless you work with very large images it will be faster. then again this isnt really fair since the p4 alone will make a huge difference.

this is very apples to oranges.

its like saying if i have a camry with a turbo, would not having a turbo be faster.. but wait im buying an m3 first.
