RAM Divider...?

I have an Asus A8V Deluxe (rev. 1) with the latest BIOS (1009).

I've been trying to overclock to a decent speed because I spent $50 on a heatsink... Well so far I tried to up the FSB to 230MHz and toned the multiplier down to 10.5, and the HTT is @ 800MHz.

I don't think the RAM can handle an FSB that high, but I can't seem to find an option for a RAM divider in my BIOS. All there is is an option to turn UP the speed on the RAM:CPU. I really don't know exactly what a RAM divider is, I've heard it mentioned many times though. Is it just an option in the BIOS, or is it something I can go to the store and buy?

So... the thing I need to know, is how can I get something to lessen my RAM:CPU FSB ratio?

Thanks for any help!

First of all, Athlon 64s do not support .5 multipliers. The BIOS is raising or slowering the FSB to trick you, so just do not use them or you will get conflicting information depending on monitoring software.

The RAM divider is usually something that lets you select between DDR200/166/133/100, only one of those 4 settings. I am not sure what the Asus board calls it, but many people here does have that board and they can help you with the specifics.

Keep your core multiplier stock, but lower the HT multiplier when overclocking, depending on how high the HTT (FSB) clock is.

The RAM "dividers" are the 166MHz, 133MHz, and 100MHz settings. Those are in effect at the listed speeds when at the stock 200MHz HTT. They simply act like dividers in that RAM speed = (RAM setting/200) * HTT clock.
