What is this and will it run seti faster like they say?

The only way a ram disk will really speed up seti is if you have a really slow hard drive.

I use it, not a major speed difference, but it will allow your HD to spin down if you leave your comp for long periods, providing you set it up that way. My HD will spin down for 8 hours at a time. I also put netscapes disk cache in there, it's much faster and don't kick the crap outa the hard drive.
