I'm about to spend about 144 bucks on two sticks of 256mb Corsair DDR400 Low Latency. People keeping talking about issues they have been haveing with 2 sticks of the same stuff except 512 totaling 1 Gig. with the Asus P4P800 Delux. It shouldn't make a difference should it? both will run the same juat more physical mem. right? I might splerge and go for the 1 Gig. But not if it is going to perform worse! Also, can i later mix 2 256 with 2 512, will that work?

Welcome to AT!

if you think your going to be getting a gig anytime soon just get a 512 card now, and another later.

Dual channel mode dsnt do a whole lot unless you are using the integrated video. your not going to be slow at 400DDR anyway : )

True for nforce, but P4P800 is an i865 board, where dual-channel makes a big difference.

2 x 256 or 2 x 512 should both work great with this board and will behave about the same (except for applications that make use of the extra memory of course). You could also switch to the Abit IS-7 instead, and use the price difference to move up to 2 x 512 of Crucial for about the same total price as your Asus + 2 x 256 MB Corsair.

I have Kinkston ddr333 right now. I also just bought a P4 2.4c 800MHz and i'm worried that i'm bottle necking my system. I want to be able to take full advantage of my new processor!?

AH!!! to dave

I already have the asus board and i love it! but now I want to figure out a great memory configuration for my Asus/P4 2.4c. Ya know. My system is really comming to gether and i think that some good RAM will really help me out. I also have a tyan ATI Radon 9600 pro and i just would really like to kick some but at unreal 2003!!!

Yes, DDR333 will bottleneck your system compared to DDR400. You could try to see if your DDR333 is really good stuff that will overclock to DDR400 (not likely), but you're probably better off selling it and buying some real DDR400.

For the P4 2.4C are you thinking of trying to overclock it to 3.0 GHz by upping the FSB to 250 / 1000 ? Then you can either:
- just keep the memory at PC3200 speed, using a 5:4 CPU/memory divider (and again think of switching to the Crucial instead of pricey Corsair)
- spend $$$ on exotic overclocker memory that might or might not run stably and keep the 1:1 CPU/memory ratio.

I'm not to sure about O.C.ing I'm not experienced enough. I would like to get everthing just how i want it then upgrade to the best processor i can aford. After this RAM purchase I would like to go to the P4 2.8c or 3.0c and give my dad the 2.4 i have right now!So if anyone has any recomendations I open! I have been really pleased with the feed back I've recieved so far! Thankyou Dave and Mr. Shaddix!!!!!!
