RAM and Unreal performance

Hey guys, check my sig out, if i've got 512MB now, and I bump it to 1024 running dual channel, will I get an increase in actual PERFORMANCE in Unreal 2k4? (performance being smoothness, load times, fps, responseiveness) thanks! 🙂

it might not be worth the money spent.. but you should notice load time differences, and dropping back to the desktop after you exit the game is much smoother also. frames per second i doubt would be affected, but the occasional lag/pause will be cured as the hdd no longer needs to swap every now and then. (this is my findings)

alright thanks guys, guess i'll go ahead and order a matching stick tonight 🙂 I'm a' movin on up!

And about dual channel, here's a pic of my board. ASUS, I've got my 1 stick of RAM in the lone slot, where do I put the sticks once I've got 2 to run dual channel? The documentation that came with my board is just a lil fuzzy 🙂

OK, boy was i gonna do it wrong, I was gonna put them both in the slots next to each other, anyways, I just ordered the RAM, and some ceramique off of newegg, they even gave me a free pen! 🙂

I think this has been asked about five times in the last week 🙂

The good thing is that it's for such a good game, UT2K4.

And YES! You will a definate improvement i would say.
Let us know how it goes.

I upgraded to 1GB due to performance issues with UT2k4. I saw a LARGE performance increase! Also, about the dual channel...your mobo manual should tell you everything you need to know if u still have it.

i upgraded to 1GB as well, but i didnt notice FPS performance increase. mainly it was load time and the ability to exit UT2004 quickly

This is what I've heard and if this is true I don't really need a gig as I only care about FPS performance and not couple more seconds loading time.

UT2004 may not have a lot of hard drive paging but its there. Load times will improve drastically and there will never be any paging.

exactly

more ram is good. 1gig on modern windoze with half life 2 coming out in the next decade and doom 3 coming out in August trust me that extra 512 will seem awesome when you have 9 things running at once
