I am upgraded from 1 GB of Crosair XMS (2-2-2-5) to possibly this
2GB 2x1024 OCZ Gold

Is this a good course to go?

I just can't stand Battlefield 2 and Oblivion and other games on 1GB of RAM. I have about 300 MB in services I just can't shut down, and it hits my pagefile everytime causing massive lagfest 2K5.

See my current computer specs in my profile.

But I've looked at this RAM and other reviews and it seems to be a worthy competitior.

money is not really a factor but under $240 would be nice. very nice.
but I've avoided learning about RAM. hahaha. whatevers.
If you're not going to OC the CPU, then buy the lowest latencies you can afford. Probably BH5 IC's. These's alot out there that can do 2-2-2-5 1T.

If you're going to OC, then you have alot of reading to do.

Fix your links.
G. Skill is good, but I dont know which one you are referring to.

edit: It looks like you are looking This model
If you are OC'n it would be a good choice.
G. Skill DDR400 2-3-2-5
If you are not OC'n this would be a better choice.

If it was down to the DDR400 G. Skill, and the OCZ titanium, I would still choose the OCZ

Dude just get the OCZ gold sticks. Or whatever is cheapest (with decent latencies). Spending any more than $160 isn't going to buy you any more than 2 FPS anyway.

Yes, the latencies are better (2-2-2-5 is better than 2-3-2-5, but uhhh, only by a eentsy weentsy tiny little bit). No, you won't see that difference in games. Going from 1GB to 2GB is going to be your biggest factor. I'd get whatever does CAS 2 (the first latency number), and costs around $150. YOu're not going to overclock. 2-2-5/3-2-5 is going to mean two things to you: Jack and Shiz.

And no way buy the G Skill Value crap because it's $25 more expensive than the identically-clocked OCZ sticks that were like $156 after rebates.

Yeesh. It's like some of you don't even pay attention to what is being asked.
