I am trying to find an answer to this question...

Is it ok to use odd size rams.. i.e. can you use a 256 and a 128? WOuld this cause problems? I guess it would not be wise to interleave odd rams?

Also, is it wise to use all 3 slots? Can you interleave 3 sticks?

There is no problem using a 128mb stick with a 256mb stick, however you could have problems running sticks intended for different speeds. Some motherboards have issues with using all 3 dimms, you should check reveiws for mobos if u wanna use all 3 or in some cases 4.

Thanks for da reply

1 more question... this interleaving business.. it it worth it? Does interleaving require two identical RAM sticks?

Would you use 1 x PC133 256Mb or given the chance..

1 x PC133 256Mb + 1 x PC133 128Mb

Both crucial.... both same model family....

Any problems with this scenario? Just trying to save dosh cos I have an huge outgoings at the moment...

Interleave has also was been beneficial for me, but I've always had 2 stick's of ram. If you have 1 stick I believe 2-Way interleave is for you. If you end up using both stick's, enable 4-Way.

Try it, benchmark it, evaluate it's stability with the 4 way interleave and answer your own question ;) BTW funny title, it made me look :D

maybe I should go for 512Mb?

I rarely play games, but I do like Tribes and Half-Life...

I do some light graphic stuff in Xara and Xara 3d and Frontpage/Fireworks..

But mostly I make music using Fruityloops and VST's and Sonar XL and VST's...

256Mb sure sounds like a lot of RAM....

512Mb sounds like an obscene amount....

What do you reckon?

256, 389 or 512 PC133? At the moment I have 192Mb PC100 which is not overclockable (I tried)... I guess the hike in FSB will give me a noticeable improvment?

I am very skint.. I just don't want to buy for buying sake.. just bought a house in the UK.. and they are so expensive.

Thanks to all replies.
