Athlon XP 1700+
Abit NF7-M
Crucial 2x128 PC-3200

Looking to upgrade the RAM on this sluggish system.. Can I just slap in a Crucial 256 PC-3200 stick, not sure if it would be compatible? Or do I gotta junk the 2x128 sticks and get a 512 stick?

Since it's nForce2, you can run the three DIMMs no problem. Plug it in, off you go :) If it were me, I would set them to 2.6 volts and sync them to the CPU's frontside bus speed of 133MHz, which means they'll be operating at PC2100 speeds. Running out-of-sync usually costs you more than it gains you, with nForce2 anyway.

Thanks! But if I got a mobile xp and wanted to overclock would the 2x128 1x256 RAM setup still be ok?
