rallycross...

Rallispec

Just curious if we have anyone else here into rallycross, or considering trying it out?
We've got a decent following in Indiana, but we're still trying to grow the sport out here some and I'm wondering what other peoples thoughts on it are, get some insight into how we can build it and promote it here.

I've got a mostly dedicated rally car - thinking about going all out and building it up for the rally america series next year, but for now I just stick to the local rallycross events.

oh, and here is my rally car:

It has always been fascinated by everything rally. I'd love to get into rallycross, but there's not much (if anything) available in Florida. Besides, it's prohibitively expensive for me right now. I get my fix with autocross.

The SCCA has pretty strict rules about course design and safety for rallycross - I've actually seen more damage happen at autocross events. Rally is tough on your car's suspension and body, autocross is tough on the engine, clutch, breaks, tires, etc... I'm really not sure which is worse overall.

I ran my lowered Legacy GT at some rally events before getting the RS. We even had a guy show up in a 2004 Carerra GT once (on Star Specs even, and he did really good)

It's a tough mental hurdle to get over, but once you go dirt, you'll never go back!

Damn you. My friends just started doing track days but I'm too busy with work. Now I might have to do track days AND rallycross.

Nice RS.

Really nice Car OP!

I grew up watching rally events with my dad. I have wanted to do it ever since. I almost went to friendswood in camby last week but I was short handed at work because of flu.

I have too many projects right now but always thought a 1g or 2g DSM would be really fun.

If your ever driving it near castleton I would love to see it! Whats the next indy event? I will go check it out!

Nice car! I remember starting up my rallying in Gran Turismo with that vehicle! Is that a STI?

I participated in one two summers ago, didn't really have a good time. This was partly due to my car and tires being slow and worn down, respectively, but also that it was never communicated to myself that I was knocking down the max number of cones (6) each lap. I only found this out when I saw my score at the end of the day (after 2x 6-run sessions).

Autocross, however, I greatly enjoy. Even with an under-powered and under-tired car, I tend to do fairly well.

No, just a slow NA 2.5 RS with the sti wing (because rally car). You don't really need power on dirt, it helps, but it is a traction and driver skill thing more than anything else.

Love it.. Rally is my favorite motor sport to watch next to british touring cars.
I would so love to get into it honestly..... $ makes it hard.

I used to work with the woman in this pic. Still friends with her on FB and we talk from time to time. She races rally and travels all over the world doing this.
