Wait. Why are people here saying Ric Flair is going to be given backstage roles now? Where the HELL were you these last few years? He's been manager/(fake) co-owner of WWE and had numerous cameos backstage. Not that I love to see him gone.. but he is pretty old.

He doesn't need to wrestle to be on TV, his has amazing presence on the mic and a great personality. Weather a fan loves or hates him, they feel something. Ric Flair is one of the best, he is the dirtiest player in the game. He could be a manager and still give an occasional low blow to the family jewels while they ref ain't looking.

I still remember one of his skits from back when I was young. It was during an event somewhere in Canda.

"I am an EIGHT time world champion! You know what that makes me? EIGHT times better than the Toronto Maple Leafs! Whoooo!"

Tully is a good guy. I have done some prison ministry work with him and he was awesome to talk with. He told some amazing stories!

Cool that Arn Anderson was there... was Dean Malenko also there?

Yep, all the "Horsemen" were there except for Ole Anderson.

Wasn't a chance in he][ that the 'Hitman would be there, not as long as Vince owns the show.

Huh? They did the hall of fame for Bret Hart.. so why can't he go back in the ring? Oh, and you're forgetting BENWAH! I'm sure there are a couple of other Horsemen you're forgetting.. wasn't Sid Vicious at ONE point one of them?

when *most* wrestling fans talk about the 4 horsemen, they mean ric flair, arn anderson, ole anderson, tully blanchard, & jj dillon

I just don't get how you become a 'superstar' when its all scripted? Yes I know its difficult and very strenuous, but that has nothing to do with the fact that everyone is essentially on a level playing field in terms of skills, so what the hell determines if you become champion? And if you do who cares?

I watched wrestling when i was little cause it was fun, now Its just stupid as hell (a wedding!?! I think thats pretty much when i stopped).

I saw this event and thought it was retarded, as did my roommates who also watched him wrestle.

And what the hell kind of adult actually goes to these things, but also brings signs(!)? How is this entertainment when you are older and realize that A. Its all fake (first thing one figures out) and B. Why are these random people coming to a ring to fight each other in front of people anyway?

I used to get it, and i still do for kids, but come on... once high school starts give me a break.

everyone on a even term of skill? uh how about no. sure its scripted but there are some who have a great personalty and little real skill such as Hogan. then therea re those with a lot of skill adn no personality such as Beniot.

Chamipion is for many diffrent things. When the rateings are slow they will give it to someone who people either love or hate. OR they will give it to someone (for a short time) who has done stuff for the company or been loyal etc.

you braught up why people enjoy it. its entertainment. We know its fake we know its scripted but still enjoy it.

He made rooting for the bad guys acceptable.

I saw him fight Sting in the crappy indiana state fair coliseum 15 years ago..it was an awesome match. Dick the Brusier was the guest referree...

He is without question the best, most entertaining wrestler of all time.

I also shed a tear (my girlfriend was thoroughly disgusted... :)

Vince is the one responsible for WWE's success. He made wrestling a respectable force in TV land. Quite remarkable really.

if you want to get technical, WCCW in dallas made wrestling a force on TV long before vince began taking over all the territories. WCCW had TV all over the country and all over the world and was getting ratings close to 20s, and often beat Saturday Night Live (when SNL was actually good in the 80s).

all vince did was get a lot of money from his dad so he could buy up talent (something the promoters in the territories frowned upon because they were so set it their ways).

Before Vince wrestling was really fragmented. After Vince its one giant conglomerate. I actually don't like monopolies, but he got wrestling really big. He destroyed all the competitors, stole all their talents and screwed all the talents at the same time. That is not an easy thing to do.

the only competition vince ever destroyed was WCW. like i said, everything else was him just buying the top talent from all the different territories or just outright buying the territories themselves. if you had the kind of money to work with that he had, it IS an easy thing to do. you just have to have the balls to upset a lot of guys that knew how to get you killed without it getting back to them. he had death threats every day for years. the fact that he lived through the takeovers is the only real impressive thing he did back in those days.

lol, and you think doing all that was easy? Personally, I detest VM, but I do have respect for his abilities.

yes, i think throwing money people is easy. he went behind people's backs and promised their top talent more money than their promoters were giving them. what is hard about that? then once he had enough talent he just bought the territory to "eliminate" the competition. it's not like he put on a better product than his competitors. hell, WCCW was getting better ratings in new york than WWF shows were getting.

I said he is a cunning business man who managed to bring wrestling into the limelight. I didn't say he was a nice guy. It's the Microsoft model.

it's entertainment, I know it's scripted but I also know it takes skill and lots of ability to do. Wrestling is not easy, wrestlers bang the shit out of their body in scripted matches to entertain the fans. if Ric Flair was champ it was because he deserved it. I look at the WWE champ being like an Oscar winning actor. You have to earn your spot by keeping the fans watching. I don't really watch wrestling anymore, but when I catch it from time to time I still see some decent matches. You asked how is this entertainment. You might like Baseball and I could say the same thing about baseball. Wrestling is fun and who cares it's scripted you never know what will happen. When I buy a boxing PPV the main event may suck and end after 30 seconds. But Wrestlemania the main event is almost guaranteed to be larger than life and be worth the money.

To each his own I guess, but even without watching it much I still find wrestling far more entertaining than most other "sports" or crap on TV. It's not "fake" it's scripted, you can't fake getting tossed off a 20 foot high cage, you can at best train on how to do it. If you and I tried to reinact a match one of us would probably leave with a broken back :)
