Rainbow Six: Vegas

I might. I loved GRAW PC despite the 'gimping' I hear of. However, I have played all Raibows and even read the book this past summer, so having only team members will be odd. I mean, I never had more than 4 paired teams, but those placeholders were still there, doing nothing, getting themselves killed.... forget it.

Hope yall can run it... I know I can't. The minimum requirements are SM 3.0 (NOTHING LOWER), 1 gig ram, 3 gig processor:

Supported OS: Windows XP (only)
Processor: 3 GHz Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 3000 (3.5 GHz Pentium 4 or Athlon 3500 recommended)
RAM: 1 GB (2 GB recommended)
Video Card: 128 MB DirectX 9.0c-compliant, Shader 3.0-enabled video card (256MB recommended) (see supported list*)
Sound Card: DirectX 9-compliant sound card (PC audio solution containing Dolby Digital Live required for Dolby Digital audio)
DirectX Version: DirectX 9 or higher (included on disc)
DVD-ROM: 4x or faster DVD-ROM drive
Hard Drive Space: 7 GB free
Peripherals Supported: Windows-compatible keyboard and mouse, Xbox 360 Controller (with additional software download)
Multiplayer: Broadband Internet connection with 128 kbps Kbps upstream or faster.

*Supported Video Cards:
NVIDIA GeForce GeForce 6600GT / 6800 / 7300 / 7600 / 7800 / 7900
ATI Radeon X1600 / X1800 / X1900 families

I have it for my XBox 360 so I'm not particularly worried about getting it for the PC. Its one of the first FPS games for the console that I've really felt comfortable playing without a keyboard and mouse. I do actually meet/exceed the minimum requirements for the game though.

Well that's good. I knew my x850 pro wouldn't last long but I didn't think it'd be so quick before it was holding me back 🙁

I might give it a try on the PC to see if I like it better than on the XBOX 360. Although, I will probably "nab" the game before I'd lay money down on it, as demos tend to give a poor example of the game itself (whether it be leaving out annoyingly laid-out system menus, etc) that I tend to shy away from them.

I easily exceed the specifications, but the list doesn't include my GeForce 8800GTX 🙁. Watch it have horrible bugs like Splinter Cell: Double Agent 😛.

Works fine on mine, referring to Rainbow Six. 🙂

just got it and all I have to say is that my system is on its knees

dual core opty at 2.7, x1900xtx, 2gigs of ram and it has gone down to 9 frames, NINE FRIGGIN FRAMES!!!
that's playing at 1280x960 with some settings high, some medium, highest I saw was low 40s

cant believe I have to play this at 1024x768

what frames are 8800gtx owners getting?

8800GTS @ 659/950... I haven't checked the actual frames, but I get decent performance at 1600x1200 with everything set to max except shadows to medium and blur to high. I'd say on average (by eye) I'm getting around 35-40 fps, with some really nasty spots causing big drops into the 10-15 fps range (some smoke effects cause the worst hit).

It looks nice (no AA though!), but it's clearly very poorly optimized for the PC (just a straight 360 port by the looks of it)... I was surprised at how sluggish my GTS was in certain areas. Anybody with less than an X1900XT should probably forget about it, unless they like playing at 800x600.

well after messing with the settings seems that the ridiculously low performance is caused by the shadows

I set the shadows to very low and the frames doubled

just upgraded in time it looks like. Just got a E6300,2gb and a X1800XT 512mb.

holy smokes...I have an Athlon 3200 (i think that's a 1.0ghz proc) and 512mb of RAM. That games needs some serious power to move it!

Same here, framerates went through the roof.

So how is the PC version compared to the XBOX 360 version? I'll admit that I've been trying to "acquire" the PC version to compare to see if there's any difference in "player performance" (I've long since been a PC FPS'er). Although due to being impatient and not enjoying having a single "acquire process" take a long time, I'll probably just end up buying it today when I get a replacement camera data cable for my PSP (USB A -> USB mini-B).

Hey guys, can the controls in this game be remapped for use on a Nostromo controller, or on any other controller for that matter ?

Yes. I'm using a Nostromo n52 in fact. Of course, I've assigned keyboard mappings to the n52 through the loadout manager/profile editor.

The game actually runs really well for me.
I have 7900GT's in SLI, but still I thought it might run like sh!t like SCDA did. But it didn't.

In the video settings the two settings that have high/medium/low I set to medium (shadows and blur?) and everything else is on execpt Vertical Sync.

This is with 0xAA (because of HDR) and 8xAF.
I think thats pretty dam good and it actually looks nice too.

I was really looking forward to buying this game if it was a decent port. And had good and popular multiplayer. But my lowly computer will probably struggle to run it. Wish they would release a demo then... because after reading this I'm not going to buy it right away anymore.

I've been perusing 3D Gamers for the past couple days looking for a demo too... but to no avail 🙁.

Let's hope Wal-Mart has it when I go there tonight to stock up on Mountain Dew, as I don't feel like driving all the way to EB Games or the extra crowded half-mile to Target/Circuit City.
