I have a Duron 650 that I have had up to 850. I also have Rain running. Rain has almost no effect on my temp. At best it may knock off 2 degrees. What's the deal?
Also, I am getting conflicting readings on CPU temp. SiSoft Sandra 2000 says 35c, while Via's thing says 52c. That's a HUGE difference. The BIOS agrees with the Via monitor. Why is the Sandra reading so low compared to the other two? Right now I have a stock HS/F on there. It has the thermal pad. I took it off to make sure the temp probe was making contact with the CPU. When I took the HS off, the thermal pad was all smashed up and it has oozed over the sides of the die. I tried cleaning up the part that oozed off, but the pad itself is a mess. After I put it all back together the temp went from 44 max to 62 max. It's idling at 50 right now. I have a FOP32 coming soon. Until then I am afraid to OC this bad boy (650@750 right now. Was up to 850 but backed off).
