Railroad Tycoon 3 or Railroads! or ???

I want to get back into the railroad sims after a long time break. I loved Railroad Tycoon 1 and 2, but which one is the current "definitive" railroad/entrepreneur sim these days? Railroad Tycoon 3 or Railroads! or is there some other one I should be looking at?

rrt3 is the best i've played
railroads is more cartoony/gamish than sim

Play Sid Meier's Railroads, it's a good game but I must warn you it has some issues with Vista

if you were a hard core RRT2 fan, you will find RRT3 too simplified for you. however there are some good things about 3 that make life easier. go for 3, but be warned it's not as hardcore and detailed as 2.

Oh really? Hmm, I loved 2. Mayhaps I'll check out what Sid did with Railroads then.

No, the one Sid did is like Railroads for toddlers compared to RRT3.

I would go for RRT3. It's not THAT much different from 2.
