Raiders have #1 Lottery Pick in 2007

I liked what San Diego did one year when they had the number one (Michael Vick) and traded down to get Tomlinson and Drew Brees. Where are those kind of deals? Then several years later, Eli Manning didn't want to go to San Diego and they got Philip Rivers instead. San Diego is my least favorite team, and somehow they get on top with these draft picks. San Diego is (13-2) this year.

What did the Raiders do in the past few years? Robert Gallery, Michael Huffs, and other parts that don't make sense.
 
Haha, yes indeed. Houston did mess up. It doesn't matter what position they think they need help in; when you draft, almost always you draft the best player on the board.

You can always make deals/trades afterward, as noted clearly by CocoGdog.
 
The problem with the Raiders has more to do with coaching than it does with players. They have plenty of talented players on offense but they're not being utilized well. A rookie QB may help a little, but they need a new coach and offensive coordinator first.
 
Whoever gets picked #1 should breathe a sigh of relief. The Lions organization would have either screwed up his career completely or severely stalled it, ie. put it on hold until they get the hell out of Detroit.

Sims was a good pick though. Hopefully they don't give Millen the option to pick who he wants.

Detroit might as well pick 10th. It just doesn't matter who they get. There's too much wrong with the Lions and not enough right.

Team reports are saying the players are happy with Shell & their new offensive coordinator. I hope Art stays.

 
I think Shell is a good coach, but offensive coordinator could use a little shakeup. C'mon, from a bed and breakfast to the NFL, and after being away from the game for quite a while, I do have to question Tom Walsh. But maybe this year was a learning experience for him, so next year i would hope that he wouldn't make the same mistakes as he did this year. Get rid of Moss and Porter, clean out the whole offensive line (including Gallery), and draft/trade for a good QB.

clean out the offensive line? they have no line to begin with. Gallery shoudl stay but they can't expect him to do it all on his own when the rest of the group is poor.

the Raiders are in such a hole that one draft will not fix them. they also gave away bad contracts and are paying for it limit what they can fill via free agency.

they need a better qb, better oline and better receivers. They might should start looking at replacing the d line. Warrent sap isn't getting any younger.

if I was the Raiders I'd pick Joe Thomas at #1. pick up qb in later rounds. There is no point in taking Brady Quinn @ #1 if they have no one to protect him.
 
If I were the Raiders, I would deal the #1 pick for a later 1st/2nd, maybe early 2nd/3rd. I won't be getting a superstar, but the Raiders don't need a superstar.
 
Oakland's defense is pretty solid... they just don't produce a single thing on offense. I'd say picking up a QB and a lineman or two will help them immensely.
 
I agree with the mock draft, I hope they get JaMarcus Russell. Al Davis likes big guys.

A few years ago they drafted OL Robert Gallery with he #2 pick and he's been a bust so far =/

Michael Huff was a great pick last year though, and their defense definitely improved by leaps and bounds over the previous season..maybe their offense can do a repeat of it.
 
I say Quinn goes first, and I'd be willing to bet several thousand dollhairs on Adrian Peterson being in the top 10. I don't know what nfldraftblitz.com analysts were smoking when they left him out, heh.

Well, if they're happy with having the worst offense in the league and scoring 3 points a game, then I guess they deserve to be 2-14.
