Simple question for those of you who know I guess.

But how does a RAID setup work ?

What can it do for a non-scsi PC ? Faster ?

Do you have to have the same HDD when adding a second drive for the RAID ?

Thanks for the info.

Well as I understand it and I am not an expert. You will need at least two drives of the same size and yes it will make it faster.

It all depends on which type of raid you want to use...
you should use identical drives if you want to do it...

do a search for this topic, and you'll find at least a few threads with either really good explanations, or links to really good explanations.

ok, first check out www.storagereview.com they have a very extensive tutorial on raid (its borrowed from the pcguide).. and to buy your stuff go here www.hypermicro.com.. ok, yes you should use identical drives.. saves headache.. and if u use a 40gig and a 20gig in a raid 0 array, then 20gigs out of the 40gigger will be lost.. basically if your just after performance you'll probably be lookin at raid 0.. also the forums at SR are very helpful on this topic.. good luck..
