RAID SUCKS BIG TIME!!

Well, after going throught all the hassle of setting up a raid 0, i found out the many flaws I PERSONALLY experience. :|

I must install the via 4 in 1 first before the raid drivers if not the raid image would be automatically erased. And i cannot update the 4 in 1 drivers after my system is up and running. And installing DirectX 8.0 proves the same, after installing the via 4 in 1, the raid drivers, i installed directX 8.0 and my raid image is gone!!

Is it possible if i donot set the raid drives as boot disk, would it affect the raid image if i update my directX or via 4 in 1s?

I do not know the solution around this thats why i'm complaining, but is this the norm?? If anyone knows a solution or advice, pls post here, thnks. 🙂

what do you mean by raid image?
I have used raid 0 on A7V133. Using win2k without any problems(except the fact that drive image 4 doesn't work with the promise controller). I had to install raid drivers while installing(as it is win2k). I had installed via driver after that, and then directx.

Raid image is the 2 drives i created to run Raid 0. It vanishes and i cannot boot from my Hdd after that, have to start all over again. fdisk/format/install....

i successfully installed DirectX8 by installing it under safemode. Is there a solution? Can i install win98se on a 3rd drive and leave the raid drives as storage, but would it affect the raid drives if i update the via 4 in 1 or DirectX in the near future?

I'm using the kk266r with to 30g maxtor drives in raid 0 config. it was a fresh install. so i loaded up win2k before updating the 4in1 drivers. i had no problems with direct 8 as well.
