RAID Stripe Array Dead - 1 HDD dead

Hey Guys,

My Raid stripe array died, i had 2x 80gb setup to be 160gb, 1 hdd died....it makes clicking noises...🙁 ohwell shit! is there a way to get any data of the other 80gb thats working fine? i tried mounting the working drive in ide mode but windows didnt show the drive and partition magic 8 or r-studio recovery didnt show the drive there. what about creating a new partition on the working drive and try to recover the data with recovery software that can read failed partitions?

anything i can do? or is there a way to do something to my hdd that clicks to make it work for a short period? so the raid can work again and i can retrieve the data quickly?
herd you can freeze the hdd and sometimes u can get it working for a little while.

any ideas are helpful even crazy ideas. thnx!

If the drives were in RAID-0 (just striping, no mirroring), then you're out of luck. This, unfortunately, is the risk you take. Without that second disk, you have no data.

^^^ What he said.

Definitely won't work and will wreck any chance you might get of recovery. Leave it off till it cools down, you might just get very lucky. I'd doubt it however 🙁
