Raid Questions

I am wanting to set up a raid deal on my PC. Right now, my motherboard is the a7v which does not have the raid capablity. My questions are, I recently ordered 2 Quantum Fireball AS 30GB harddrives. I also got this 30 GB Western Digital harddrive. They are all ATA100 7200RPM. Will I be able to throw all 3 drive in one stripe? Will the different makes do anything to screw things up? Also, what is best, upgrading to a a7v133 or just buying a fasttrak 100 raid pci card? Is having it onboard flaky?

By the promise card and stripe all three. No problem. Run win2k and make them dynamic disksthen have one huge c drive. Yummy!

It'll work. you can usually strip any 3 hard drives even of diff capacity (the different capacity depends on the RAID controller). In your case it should work fine the only bad thing is that your seek time will = the slowest of your three hard drives. This is the main reason why people usually have two of the same drive. good luck though.
