Raid questions

Sometime soon i plan renovate my computers storage. What i plan on doing is score two ssd drives and run them in a raid 0 set up for speed. however, i download arount 5 gigs of stuff a day, so those low capacity ssd's will not last for very long. so in addition to the "fast drive" (raid 0 set up) However with me being me, i plan on things to screw up and soon. so, i would also like to have a "high capacity" solution for my storage needs. For this i plan on using my two 1.5tb drive that i currently have, in a raid 1 set up. so what i am getting to, is whether or not i could run both raid set ups internaly and on the same motherboard. would this work? would i need two raid controllers? any and all input is appreciated.

Yes, with most dedicated RAID cards and any of the newer, mid to high grade mother boards you can run more than one RAID system. I have a similar setup using the onboard controller, ICH10R

So please allow me to have a newbie moment and get something straight that i have gathered from this and some other reading. Most raid cards will have some kind of software or something like that, that allows you to manage all of the hard drives pluged in, manually on what ever level of raid your controller card supports. so a 4 port card that supports level 1 and 0, is what i need to run my set up. wow, this my be easier than i thought. (i hope)

Yes, there will be an interface to support your RAID controller. Generally they will be flashed to the device in much the same way your BIOS is.

What mother board do you have?
