I got a new board with built in RAID.
Do I have to use the same type of disks?
Size? Type?

it is advised that you get the same type of disks(e.g.size,model,manufacturer)

you can get away with using different models/manufacturers if need be

if u want raid 0 then they should be pretty much the same size, otherwise extra space gets unused i believe
like if:
hd1=40gb
hd2=60gb
total hdspace in raid0 would only be 80gb, 40 from each drive

you can, but they say that the additional seek times, differences add up. I have two 30 gig 75GXPs as raid 1 now, they were raid 0 and they were built about a year apart (different "versions" I'm sure) but ran ok in raid. I doubt that the differences cause any increase in CPU useage, probably just a little extra delay in data because of the number of times one drive will be waiting on the other....
