raid question

i'm getting an asus a7v333-r. i'm gonna put in dual 80 gig maxtors on raid 0 and a 36 gig maxtor. i'm also planning on putting in a burner and dvd. would i be able to get all that on my mobo or would i need to use a separate promise card. also, it'd be nice if the two optical drives were on a different ide channel so that cd copying would work better.
thanks

I would put the 36 Gig on the same cable as the cd reader. I doubt you will ever burn a cd using the reader and the hard drive.

eh, according to what i've read, placing a cd drive and a hard drive slows the hard drive down to the cd drive's speed

if your cdrw is at udma2 atleast, not pio mode then it's ok, it will slow down the hd but not at cd speed.
why don't you try it: ok now your two 80 gig will be at the raid channel, don't install the additional hd yet because it will create the bootloader at that hd if you install it, after you install windows why don't you try the combination if your cd together and if you put the cd and hd together, bencmark it with sandra and you can see the difference. my opinion is, even if it's slower it still will not affect your computer perfornace since it will be your secondary hd right. your true power will be at the raid hd and it will serve you good.
